1. Start with what people actually buy
I look at what UK shoppers are searching for and buying, including seasonal needs like drying clothes indoors in winter or brighter dark mornings, and build a longlist from there.
2. Check the facts, not the marketing
Dimensions, materials, what’s in the box, power and compatibility are checked against the manufacturer’s listing, and compared with similar products at different prices.
3. Read the buyer reviews properly
I read verified UK buyer reviews looking for patterns: the praise that keeps coming up, and the faults that do too. One angry review isn’t a verdict, but the same complaint ten times is.
4. Hands-on notes, where I have them
When I’ve had a product at home, I add my own observations and say so. If I haven’t, I won’t pretend I have.
5. Say who should skip it
Every review includes the drawbacks and the kind of buyer it won’t suit. A good find for one home is the wrong one for another.

Updates and corrections
Reviews are dated. If prices, models or buyer feedback change meaningfully, the review is updated rather than left to go stale.
